Kathi Niffenegger, CPA, Principal

Kathi grew up in Huntington Beach, CA and now resides in Morro Bay, CA. A specialist in audits of governmental and nonprofit agencies and businesses, Kathi has extensive experience performing single audits when these entities receive federal financial assistance. Clients rely on her expertise when designing and improving internal control systems. Kathi also conducts reviews, compilations, agreed-upon procedures and compliance audits for business and governmental clients. She is a graduate of California State University in Long Beach, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Kathi worked for Peat Marwick’s Newport Beach office and was vice president/finance at Martin Aviation for nearly four years. She joined GBP&B in 1988 and was appointed as a director in 1995. Kathi is a founding member and past president of the Central Coast Chapter of IMA and a graduate of Leadership San Luis Obispo-Class II. She has served as President of the Central Coast Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, the Financial Advisor for Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority Chapter at Cal Poly, and a member of the SLO Chamber of Commerce’s Member Relations and Reaccreditation Committees. Kathi is also a member of AICPA, CSCPA and Women’s Network.
Away From the Office:
Kathi is an avid reader and counts among her favorites, Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore and any Elliott Roosevelt mystery.
She enjoys an eclectic range of music and the public radio station KCBX.
Her favorite movies include, Always by Henry Jaglom and My Life as a Dog.
Professional Influences, Ideas and Advice:
Kathi wasn’t sure she wanted to be in public accounting so she started at GBP&B as a “temporary” employee. She liked it so well, especially the people & clients, that she was hooked and never considered another job.
Her personal dedication to organizations and philanthropic endeavors permeates all that she does. She works tirelessly for many groups and serves as an inspiration for others to donate their time and resources.
